When HALO acts on its leads to save one or many dogs, we often need help to care for these rescues. Becoming a foster takes a commitment that is ongoing. Quite often these Havanese are from environments that we would normally never expect. They may have had little or no interaction with people outside of feeding. This is particularly common from those rescued from puppy mills. Often these Havanese are not housebroken and need socialization.
If you are ready to take on this commitment, we need your help! The future of HALO and our rescued Havanese will appreciate it.

100% of our monies go towards our Havanese rescues. Our volunteers contribute their own money for motel expenses to attend auctions, food for the rescues, transporting dogs to and from foster homes, trips to and from the Vet, stamps for mailings, telephone calls etc.
Your tax deductable donation to HALO will help us continue our mission to help Havanese in need.

If you know of a homeless Havanese or if you must give yours up, for whatever reason, please consider HALO. We will have to asses your Havanese for proper placement in the right foster home.
Once your Havanese is accepted it will be placed in a carefully screened, loving home. Each applicant must complete an adoption application, provide vet records, list references, and submit to a home visit to ensure your pet is placed in an appropriate home. All adoptions are followed up to ensure that the Havanese is adjusting well and being cared for properly. We have a no euthanasia policy. The new adoptive family becomes a member of the HALO family.

This is a story of how one very special young lady does her part to help HALO. Delanie lives next door to one of our foster Dads. She is only 5 years old. This sweet little girl comes over often to play with the dogs and pups that Ron is fostering. She is a huge help in the dogs and pups transition from a puppymill to their forever homes. She was just given a certificate from HALO as a Junior member and also recieved a stuffed Havanese. We hope that Delanie's story will inspire you to do what you can do to help.
