"Thought you'd enjoy seeing Barney in his usual position--by the door, wanting to go out and chase squirrels, or play in the snow, or bark at the dog next door, or anything at all just to be outside.  He's some guy all right!  Barney has been a joy from the get go.  A darling little charmer with a bit of the clown in him.  He's growing up so fast.  Why he'll be 10 months old on Wednesday.  So hard to believe.  He and Twigs are still best friends, though I can see signs that the title of alpha is about to swing Barney's way with Twigs not seeming to mind.  Barney can sit and stay, come when called 95% of the time, ring the bell to go bathroom (oh why oh why did we ever teach him to ring that bell), sing, and dance with me, too.  And  does he ever love his walks.  I think he's beginning to blow his puppy coat and since grooming is not one of his favorite things though we do it gently every day, I don't see how we'll get through it without resorting to a puppy cut.  Though I'm gonna give it a good try before giving up that treasured Havanese look.

I'm happy to say we consider him mostly house broken.  We finally took down the pen and got more attractive gates to keep them in the kitchen
and laundry room.  Barney is permitted in the living room when we're there to supervise, and he does well in the media room downstairs in the evenings.  He has a crate on each floor of the house, cause we got tired of lugging one from floor to floor.  In the evenings after a good long playtime, he likes to curl up beside Michael on the couch, while Twigs takes her usual spot beside me.  No doubt we're a family.

So thanks again for allowing us to give Barney a home.  We love him with all our hearts.

Karen "
