My name is HALO and this is my story. I was born in Hungary on
November 14, 2002. My breeder thought she was selling myself and three
sisters to a wonderful man who was going to find good homes for all four of
us in the United States. Little did she know that she had sold us to a
Puppy Broker and he would sell us at a puppy mill auction in Missouri to a
mill where all of us would live our entire lives in tiny cages to produce
litter after litter.
Thank heaven for HALO Rescue and the 4 dedicated people from
the Midwest that drove down to Missouri to the puppy mill auction. They
were unable to rescue my 3 sisters but 2 other older Havanese and one 10
week old puppy (A.K.A. Me!) were rescued from a life of misery.
Even though I had an inguinal hernia and having a litter of
puppies would probably have killed me, that didn't deter the millers from
trying to get me. Thanks to HALO, myself and the 2 boys were placed into
loving homes.
I now live in the Chicago area. I have a mother and a brother,
and 2 fur sisters who all love me very much. When I was a puppy I had a
canine family which consisted of Smokey, a German Sheppard mix, Abu, a male
Pomeranian, Emma, a Coton DeTulear and last but not least, Gracie, a tiny
Shelty.
My mom likes to play with us a lot, go for walks and she likes
to teach us. I went to Puppy Kindergarten and Beginner Obedience at Stone
City. My sister, Gracie, and I go to Blitzen Canine Academy for Agility.
We have lots of friends at our kennel and agility clubs.
Our mom starts teaching us how to behave as soon as she gets
us. (Foster pups too!) My sisters and I go to a wonderful vet who also
takes very good care of us. My vet repaired my hernia at the same time he
spayed me. My mom says this is very important, not just for my health, but
to help control the animal population.
My mom is very proud of me. I have my CGC (Canine Good
Citizen) and I visit skilled care facilities. I am quite a hit with the
patients. They all think I am real cute.
Thanks to our friend and trainer, Pam Juliano, and to Joan and
John Marec of Piece of Cake, and Kathy Fay and Smack-Dabs, I was the #1
Havanese in UKC Agility in 2006 and 2007. I competed in the Premier and UKC
All Star Invitational and placed several times.
In 2008 I will be competing again. I was #2 dog in AGI and #3
dog in AGII and #29 in AGIII. All of these rankings are all breed.
I also compete in CPE and AKC. I have many titles in both
organizations. This is my official name: U-AGI, I-AGII,U-ACH, U-GRACH
Clement's Second Chance HALO C-ATCH, NA, NAJ, OA, OAJ, AX, AXJ, CLIR, CLIF,
CLIS, CLIH, CLI, CL2R, CL2F, CL2H, CL2S, CLz, Cl3R, CL3F, CL3S, CL3H, CL3,
CL4R, CL4H, CL4S, CL4F, Cl4.
If I was a doctor could you imagine all the money I'd make with
all these letters and numbers before and after my name?
When my mom fosters dogs or puppies or both, I help out by
being a puppy socializer.
Last year I lost my big brother ABU and my big sister, Smokey.
I miss them a lot but I am happy I still have Emma and Gracie.
I hope all of our HALO buddies are having a good time like I
am. Rescue dogs rule!
