Email from April 2008

It has been one year since we adoped Paquita Fidela Alicia del Carmen. She continues to be a very bright spot in our lives. She has become quite the hit of Portland. People are continuously stopping us on our walks to pet her, and those who don't have time to stop, pass with a smile on their face!

We recently celebrated her 1st birthday at the beach. She certainly has become quite the Oregon girl. She not only loves the beaches but the flower festivals and the inland trails as well.

From email August 2007

all is well in Oregon. Paquita is a sweet (and full of energy) puppy who now has everyone in Portland gushing over her. It is amazing the attention she draws. While we are walking, people will stop their cars in the middle of the street and tell me what a cute sweet puppy. I have met more people in the past three months while walking her then I have in the 5 years I've lived here. Of course everyone wants to know all about her. I of course tell them all about HALO!

I have attached a few photos: Paquita climbing Mt. Rainer, Paquita at the beach, and Paquita being Paquita.

She continues to check out fine at the vet. She is scheduled to be spayed at the end of September. She learned her basic commands easily--sit, stay, down, vene, arriba, abajo, etc. (she is bi-lingual). We are still working on the loose leash walking, but she has improved tremendously since day-one when she hopped down the street on two-legs pulling me with her!! She is fine until we meet someone that gushes all over her and then all the training goes out the door!!"
