On May 11, 2004 I drove from Detroit to Cleveland to adopt a three pound Havanese puppy from the HALO rescue group. It was Mother's Day weekend, just two months after I lost my dear Mother. Little Sophie took my mind off my grief and kept me in smiles ever since. She is a loving little girl who also runs as fast as a bunny and would play fetch all day if she could. Last year she came through a life threatening illness caused by an unknown animal clawing - one little hole just missed her carotid artery. She was a sick girl for well over a month and endured 21 vet visits in 32 days. Later we found out she had suffered from an e-coli infection from the claw hole.  I am happy to say she fully recovered and regained the weight loss and her spunky personality. Here are two photos of Sophie (Sophia Loren) - the day she was adopted and a recent summer photo. HALO is a wonderful network of angels bringing together lost souls and special friendships
