Having another dog in their new home gives them a level of comfort and they model the other dog’s behavior.  They will watch and see the other dog going up to people, and notice that the other dog is calm and unstressed if the dishwasher starts or another noise occurs.  It gives them a level of trust having another dog around. (click the title to read the rest of this article).

Our 2018 calendar includes about 100 photos of HALO rescues submitted by their adopters. You can see beautiful Havanese every day of the year! All proceeds go towards providing top quality vet care for our puppy mill rescues.

HALO offers (no charge) mentors that will work with you through email and telephone conversations to help you resolve problems with your Havanese. 

Adorable little Chloe, a HALO rescue, can't wait for our annual get-together in St. Charles, Illinois on Saturday, September 17, 2017. All of our former adopters will be invited along with their pups. Last year we had 100 people and 80 pups in attendance and we expect the turn-out to be even higher this year. To add even more excitement to the event, bidding in our annual online auction will end during the picnic. The auction will start in early September .Many of our auction items will be on display that day for everyone to enjoy. We expect heated bidding!!

We are really proud of our Mentor Program, led by Marisa Evans, which gives our adopters access to a wonderful group of people experienced in working with puppy mill rescues. Marisa, as an example of the knowledge level of our team, has fostered over 10 Havanese puppy mill rescues, and has adopted two HALO rescues. She and the team have a broad set of experiences with different ages of dogs, from puppies to seniors, and different challenges. 

Their home is a bridge from what was to what can be.  They have poured a little of their souls into each and every foster.  They take the dogs at their greatest time of need and teach them love, guidance and trust.    They replace the pain and despair with comfort and hope.

At only 3 years of age, Willow will have many years of running to enjoy thanks to Dr. Jack Henry and his wife and assistant, Lori Henry, who have cared for her with great compassion and skill. We are grateful for their dedication!
